Abstract

Abstract

Śaivism is one of the branches of Hinduism and its history in this land, goes back to ancient times. In the medieval ages and in the southern regions of India, this religion achieved significant growth and development by the distraught and attracted mystics which known as Nāyanmārs, hence this period is considered a turning point for Śaivism. The roots of many basic theological and philosophical concepts of Śaivism thought can be found in the poems which left by the Nāyanmārs. One of these topics is divinity and their approach to God. The concept of divinity and many of its subcategories in Hinduism (despite the researches which have been done in this field) are still not well known. Therefore, searching in the poems of these saints and their views on categories such as the concept of God, assimilation and transcendence of God, monotheism, eternity of God, God’s grace, is a significant issue and worthy of investigation, which is also the main purpose of this article. In this way by analyzing of these saints poems, the previous issues will be discussed.
