The transition of man from the traditional world of the Middle Ages to the modern era and the nature, causes, and factors of this influential event in the history of humanity today are important concerns of many thinkers and researchers. In this study, the author's main concern is to examine and analyze the role of religion in the emergence of modernity. By examining the theories and perspectives of experts, as well as the course of history and its transformation from the traditional world to the modern world, he seeks to find the roots and veins of religion in the foundation of modernity. Therefore, in a descriptive-exploratory study using documentary and library data, the role of religion in the emergence of modernity was analyzed and it was observed that the most important characteristics and components of modernity, including 1. rationality and rationality, 2. humanism and individualism, and 3. secularism and the separation of religion from politics, have their roots in the teachings of Christianity and there is an undeniable connection between them and the teachings of this religion. The result is that modernity and its characteristic components have their roots in religion (Christianity) and modernity is not an anti-religious concept, but rather a different approach to the category of religion.
