Explaining the relationship between religion and violence has been one of the most important concerns of thinkers in the field of religion in recent decades. The views on the relationship between religion and violence can be divided into two main currents. A group of thinkers believe that there is a deep connection between religion and violence because religion has been the origin of many violences that have occurred in history, and in the contemporary era, the main cause of violence and terrorism in the world is the beliefs and followers of religions. . Another group of thinkers, some of whom are religious theologians, criticizing this attitude, do not consider religion as the main cause of violence, especially in the modern era, and consider non-religious factors to be effective in the occurrence of violence and similar anomalies. . William T. As two Christian and Muslim thinkers, Kavanagh and Abolghasem Fanai are considered to be among the thinkers of the second group and opponents of the view of maximum religious violence. This article, with an explanatory and analytical approach of the content analysis type and with the method of collecting library information, seeks to investigate their views on the relationship between religion and violence and how to face the first attitude.
