The Contemporary era has changed religious dialogue from a controversial act to a co-existential necessity. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the official responsibility of religious dialogue with followers of religious, including dialogue with the Christians, was delegated to the "Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue". The main focus of this article is to study and evaluate the dialogue of this center with the "Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue".

Since one of the most important Methods for analyzing and understanding social phenomena is to study their function, attempts have been made in this article to focus on the functions and results of the held dialogue and also to explain the nature of these dialogues. Due to this very reason, the necessary date for this research were collected from the available texts of the dialogue and were interpreted by applying content analysis method. The results of the research show that the main functions of these dialogues are broadening the knowledge of each other, deepening the religious knowledge, dignifying the spiritual values through creating common understanding, and creating the spirit of convergence and cooperation. Undoubtedly, these dialogues have had some shortcomings that stemmed from the approaches of dialoguers. Some of these shortcomings include evading the theological, ethical, and cultural points of differences between them, the lack of continuous cooperation for the realization of the ideals, and the impacts of some sociopolitical issue on the dialogues.
